Candidates can register for the test on the official website of the Chinese Test Service at https://www.chinesetest.cn. Please read the following instructions carefully before registration.
Candidates need to prepare their registration identity documents in advance. Acceptable forms of identification include a passport or ID card. Candidates registering at a test centre outside their home country must use a passport to register. Candidates taking the test at a test centre in their home country can use either a passport or ID card to register.
Please ensure that the personal information submitted during online registration matches the information on the identity document exactly. Candidates will be disqualified from the test and their test results will be cancelled, and they will not be allowed to transfer to another test, withdraw from the test, or receive a refund if the personal information submitted during registration does not match the personal information on the identity document presented on the day of the test. Candidates will be held responsible for any consequences arising from incorrect or false information.
1. Sign up as a user of the Chinese Test Service Website.
2. Select the test type, test date, and test centre.
3. Fill in your personal information and verify it, then upload a photo.
4. Fill in your mailing information.
5. Confirm the information and submit it.
6. Pay the test fee online or contact the test centre to pay the test fee and complete the registration.
7. Get your admission ticket.
Only after completing steps 1-6 will the candidate's registration be officially valid.
You need to sign up as a user of the website if you're using the Chinese Test Service website for the first time. Before signing up, you'll see the CTI Registration Agreement and a Guide to Privacy Protection for Chinese Test Candidates. Click the 'I have read and agree' button to confirm that you accept and will follow these terms. After setting up a username, providing an email address, and setting a password, you will be successfully signed up.
Please note:
·Each email address can only sign up for one Chinese Test Service Website account;
·Candidates' personal information will be effectively secured and kept strictly confidential. The personal information provided by candidates will be used to contact them and for other matters related to the test;
·Candidates need to log in with their email address each time they access the Chinese Test Service Website. Candidates can only perform various operations after logging in with their account;
·Candidates can register for multiple tests at the same time on the Chinese Test Service Website (HSK Level 5 and Level 6 tests cannot be registered for on the same day at this time);
·Candidates can view their test records, mailing information, pay test fees, issue invoices, and change their passwords in 'My Account';
·Candidates will not be able to modify their personal information after successful payment. If you find any errors in your information, please contact the Chinese Test Service Website (email: kaoshi@chinesetest.cn; telephone: +86 (0)10 59307638 (Chinese) / 59307662 (English) (service hours: Monday to Friday: 9:00-11:30, 13:30-18:00; on Saturdays, please contact the test centre for consultation); except for national statutory holidays) to apply for a change, and attach supporting documents to the email so that the information can be changed smoothly and the test can be taken.
Click 'Book a Test', select the test type, test level, test format, and test date, and then select the test centre.
Please note:
If a candidate leaves or accidentally disconnects without paying the test fee, please pay the test fee as soon as possible after pre-registration to avoid being unable to pay the fee and complete the registration once the test seats are full.
Please follow the instructions on the screen when you enter the personal information filling page. Please fill in your personal information correctly and verify your mobile phone number at this step.
Please note:
The photo should be a recent (within 6 months) passport photo of the candidate, between 15kb and 500kb in size, in jpg format, preferably with a white background. It should not be a landscape or lifestyle photo. Hats, headscarves, headbands and sunglasses are not allowed, except for religious reasons.
Candidates registering for test centres in mainland China need to fill in their mailing information. You will be directed to the mailing information page after you have filled in your personal information. Candidates registering for test centres outside mainland China do not need to fill in their mailing information.
Confirm that the above information is correct, read the 'Notes on Chinese Test Registration' and 'A Guide to Privacy Protection for Chinese Test Candidates' carefully, and tick 'I have read and agree' after reading. You will not be able to continue with the registration process if you do not tick this box.
Candidates registering for test centres in mainland China can pay directly online using quick payment, online banking, QR code payment, or JCB/VISA/Mastercard. Candidates will be directed to the corresponding payment platform to make their online payment.
Candidates registering for test centres in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas regions need to pay the fee at the test centre or complete the payment in accordance with the method specified by the test centre.
You need to log in to the Chinese Test Service Website before the test, print your admission ticket in 'My Account', or go to the test centre to collect their admission tickets as required by the test centre and bring it with you on the day of the test. Candidates who do not bring their admission tickets will not be allowed to take the test.
The name, gender, date of birth and ID number filled in on the admission ticket must be consistent with the valid ID used when registering, otherwise you will not be allowed to take the test.
After printing or collecting your admission ticket, please carefully check that all the information on it is accurate and correct. If there are any errors in the information on the admission ticket, please contact the test centre to have it corrected before the test.
You need to keep your admission ticket after the test, as you will need it to print or collect your score report. You will also need your admission ticket information to check your results online and apply for additional score reports and other score services.

3. Candidates taking the paper-based test must bring 2B pencils (two or more) and an eraser. Candidates taking the computer-based test are not permitted to bring paper or pencils.
4. All other items should be stored in the designated area specified by the chef examiner and may not be carried on the person.
5. Candidates who cannot provide the required identification and admission ticket upon entry will not be permitted to take the test and will not be eligible for rescheduling, withdrawal, or refunds.
Please note:
·If a candidate's passport is currently being renewed or reissued by the Entry-Exit Administration Bureau or other relevant authorities, they should present both the receipt issued by the authority and a copy of the original passport when taking the test. Both documents are required.
·The type of identification required for the YCT test is not subject to the above restrictions.
1. Candidates should arrive at the test room 30 minutes before the start of the test. Once inside the room, candidates are not permitted to leave until the listening test has finished.
2. Before the listening test begins, late candidates can enter the room to take the test; however, once the listening test has started, late candidates have to wait until the listening test has finished before entering the room to take the reading test, and any missed time will not be compensated. Once the reading test has begun, late candidates are not permitted to enter the room to take the test.
3. Before the speaking test recording begins, late candidates can enter the test room to take the test, but the missed time will not be compensated; once the recording has begun, late candidates should not enter the test room to take the speaking test.
4. After arriving at the test room, candidates should proceed to the waiting area to wait. During the waiting period, candidates can use the restroom.
5. Store personal belongings.
6. Undergo identity verification and security checks.
7. Follow the invigilators' instructions to reach your seat and wait for the test to begin.
8. The invigilator will read the instructions and distribute the client login information form.
9. For internet-based tests, log in to the test system using your admission ticket number and password, and test the equipment. For paper-based tests, follow the invigilators' instructions to fill in the answer sheet, etc., and do not answer questions outside the designated section.
10. After the test, candidates collect their personal belongings and leave the test area according to the instructions.
·Candidates should place their identification documents in the designated location for verification by the invigilators.
·Candidates should sit in the designated seats and are not permitted to choose their seats independently.
·The test will begin upon the invigilators' instructions. Candidates should not begin answering questions before the invigilators explicitly signal the start of the test.
·Candidates should comply with the chief examinar's instructions, adhere to the test rules, and independently complete all test tasks.
·All electronic devices should be turned off and stored away, including but not limited to mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and watches. If any prohibited items are found in the test room, the candidate will be disqualified from the test, and their results will be invalidated. They will not be eligible for rescheduling, withdrawal, or refunds.
·If a candidate is absent from the test on the day of the test for reasons not attributable to the test organiser, the test fee will not be refunded, and the candidate will not be eligible rescheduling, withdrawal, or refunds.
·Candidates requiring medical devices such as hearing aids to enter the test room must contact the test centre in advance to submit an application (providing medical diagnosis documents). Otherwise, such devices will not be permitted in the test room. Candidates bringing medication into the test room should have it checker by the invigilator for any abnormalities before placing it on the main test desk for safekeeping.
·Please remove your headphones after the listening test.
·Candidates are not permitted to leave the test room during the speaking test. If they do so, their test results will be invalidated. No rescheduling or refunds will be permitted.
·Candidates are required to wear headphones throughout the entire speaking test. Please ensure your voice is clear.
·If you encounter any issues during the test, please raise your hand to signal.
·If the test centre is unable to provide a normal test environment due to issues such as damaged test papers or equipment, Chinese Test International will arrange for candidates to retake the test free of charge as soon as possible. The test location and level cannot be changed.
In the event of force majeure, such as natural disasters or social unrest, preventing the test from being conducted normally, Chinese Test International will arrange for candidates to retake the test or receive a full refund of the test fees as soon as possible. Chinese Test International and the test centre shall not be responsible for any indirect losses in the above circumstances.
Candidates are not permitted to leave the test room during the test. There are no breaks during the test. If a candidate needs to use the restroom, they should obtain the permission of the chief examiner and hand over their admission ticket and ID card to the invigilator before leaving the test room. The invigilator will verify the candidate's identity and conduct a security check again after the candidate returns to the test room. The candidate's admission ticket and ID card will be returned to them after the verification, and the time lost will not be compensated.
·Before leaving the test room, don't forget to take your admission ticket and ID with you.
·Before leaving the test centre, remember to collect your personal belongings from the storage area.

Items to Bring
· Essential items: admission ticket, ID documents, pencils (for paper-based tests only)
· Prohibited items:
Except for essential items, all other items are prohibited from being brought into the test room, including but not limited to backpacks, mobile phones, watches, laptops, MP3 players, timers, any electronic devices capable of recording audio, images, or videos, food, and water.
· Items permitted with invigilator approval: essential medications, etc.
·Please refer to the annual test schedule for the result release date. If results are not released by the specified date, please contact the test centre immediately. The test centre would report the issue to Chinese Test International within three days of the scheduled result release date (paper-based tests may experience delays due to the shipping process).
·Candidates should have completed the test normally to access their results and receive their score reports.
·Results for paper-based listening, reading, and writing tests will be released one month after the test. Results for internet-based listening, reading, and writing tests will be released 15 days after the test. Results for speaking tests (paper-based/computer-based) will be released one month after the test.
·After results are released, candidates can log in to the website of the Chinese Tests Service Website, enter their admission ticket number and name to query results.
Please Note: For specific arrangements, please refer to the test dates on the homepage of the Chinese Tests Service Website.
·For test centres in China (excluding Hong Kong and Macao), score reports will be sent from Chinese Test International to individual candidates within five working days after the results are released.
·For test centres in Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas, score reports will be sent to local test centres approximately 45 days after the test. Candidates need to bring their admission ticket and ID to the test centre to collect their score reports.
Please Note: Score reports are valid for two years as proof of a candidate's language proficiency.
Additional Score Reports
·Candidates who need additional score reports for personal reasons need to log in to the 'My Account' section of the Chinese Tests Service website to complete the application process. For detailed instructions on the application process and notes, please refer to the 'Additional Score Report Application' section on the Chinese Tests Service website.
·The maximum number of score reports that can be requested in a single application is 10.
Score Report Modification
Candidates can apply to modify personal information errors on their score reports by logging into the 'My Account' section of the Chinese Tests Service website. For the application process and notes, please refer to the 'Score Report Modification Application' section of the Chinese Tests Service website.
Score Review
·Candidates who have doubts about their results can apply for a score review by logging into the 'My Account' section of the Chinese Tests Service website. For the application process and notes, please refer to the 'Score Review Application' section of the Chinese Tests Service website.
·Candidates will not be able to obtain a score report under the following circumstances:
·Within 27 days prior to the test (including the 27th day), candidates may log in to the Chinese Tests Service website and apply for a rescheduling of the test free of charge in the 'My Account - Test Records' page (only for test dates after the original registration date; test centres, test subjects and test levels cannot be changed; only one rescheduling application is permitted for each test).
·From 27 days before the test (excluding the 27th day) to 10 days before the test date (including the 10th day), candidates can log in to the Chinese Tests Service website and apply for a rescheduling in the 'My Account - Test Records' page (limited to test dates after the original registration date; the test centre, subject, and level cannot be changed; only one rescheduling application is permitted for each test), and pay a handling fee which is 30% of the test fee.
·After the 10th day prior to the test date (excluding the 10th day), no further requests for rescheduling will be accepted.
·For registrations at test centres in China (excluding Hong Kong and Macao), once confirmed and paid for, no requests for withdrawal or refunds will be accepted.
·Candidates suffering from severe illnesses can apply for a rescheduling or cancellation of the test. Candidates should contact the registration test centre before the test date to apply for a rescheduling and provide an original medical certificate stating that they are unable to attend the test on the test date. The registration test centre will submit the certificate to Chinese Test International for review and approval before the application can be processed. No cancellation requests will be accepted after the test date or after the candidate has taken any test subjects.
·Transfers between different test subjects, levels, or test centres are not permitted.
Please Note: The above regulations apply to the Chinese Proficiency Test/HSK, HSK Speaking Test, YCT, BCT, and MCT (both paper-based and internet-based tests).
·Candidates found cheating (including acts such as plagiarism, providing plagiarised material, bringing electronic devices or materials related to the test into the test room, or communicating information with individuals inside or outside the test room) will have their test terminated by the chief examiner, and their test results will be invalidated.
·Candidates found to be impersonating others will have their tests terminated by the chief examiner, and the results of the registered candidate will be invalidated, with a two-year ban on taking the test.
·Candidates who engage in behaviour that disrupts or negatively impacts other candidates will receive a warning from the chief examiner. If the warning is ineffective, their test will be terminated, and their results will be invalidated.
·Candidates who copy, photograph, or record test questions, or attempt to remove test papers or answer sheets from the test room will be warned once by the chef examiner. If the warning is ineffective, the test will be terminated, and the test results will be invalidated.
·Candidates who fail to comply with test-related instructions will be warned once by the chef examiner. If the warning is ineffective, the test will be terminated, and the test results will be invalidated.
·If candidates engage in other test misconduct, they will be handled in accordance with the Chinese Tests Misconduct Handling Regulations.
